Nijara hails from a village named Nichinta (in the district of Goalpara, Assam)
which literally translates into ‘No Tension village’. Her parents wanted to bring slight tension into the locality by enroling their nine year old daughter into a Sattriya school named ‘Nrittyangan’ under the guidance of Shri Tarali Das around 45 KM away from home. Well, that came out to be a futuristic decision when Nijara obtained her Guneen (Nritya Bisharad) in Sattriya dance 8 years later. While she was learning deduction of Newton’s second law “F=ma” at Handique Girls College, she continued her adoration for Sattriya from noted exponets including, Padma Shri Bayancharya Ghanakanta Bora, SNA awardee Adhyapak Manik Bora Barbayan, Adhyapak Hariprashad Saikiya Barbayn and Adhyapak Rubul kr. Mahanta.
The girl from the ‘No Tension village’ is a dance entrepreneur now who runs “Nrittyanjali- Sattriya Dance and Reseach Centre”, a social culture society cum dance school in the district of Goalpara. She has performed in many prestigious events organized by Sangeet Natak Academy (SNA), Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC) and many other platforms. She has indeed left her footsteps with her elegant dance movement in different parts of the country.
Nijara wants to prove the point that culture practitioners are also tech-savvy and revenue oriented for taking dance as a career. She calls herself a web developer for SattriyaCorner; the actual owners of this initiative are for all the culture enthusiasts across the globe who see classical dance as the finest art to discover self, of course, without taking any ‘tension’.
